January to December; June to October
What you might see
- Moray eelLikely

Certification & difficulty
Open Water
Snorkelling
Not a snorkel site - Not viable at the dive site itself: Tour de Boucan lies in open water outside the shark-net enclosure. A prefectural swimming/surfing ban has been in force at Boucan Canot beach since fatal shark attacks (2011, 2013) and is still renewed; snorkeling is restricted to inside a small netted bathing area close to shore, described by snorkeling guides as 'not very interesting'
Safety notes
Active, renewed prefectural swimming/surfing ban due to shark risk applies to Boucan Canot beach; the open-water dive site is outside the protective shark net and is only accessed by boat with a professional dive center (diving with a professional structure is treated separately from the public bathing ban); open-coast exposure to swell
Permits & fees
Falls within the Reserve Naturelle Marine de La Reunion (Saint-Paul sector, between Cap La Houssaye and L'Etang-Sale); no distinct per-diver fee found, but dives must run through an authorized professional structure and standard reserve rules apply (no touching/collecting)
Permits and operators change - confirm before booking.
