Safety notes

Strong currents and blue-water disorientation risk; some sources describe historical shark baiting/chumming around 15m depth to draw sharks in for photos, but baiting/feeding of wildlife including sharks has been banned in French Polynesia since late 2017 - divers should confirm current practice with their operator and decline any illegal feeding
