Certification & difficulty
Technical - advanced conditions (currents/depth); dive within your training.
Snorkelling
Not a snorkel site - Limited - the shallow reef crest can be snorkeled in calm conditions, but the site is primarily dived as a wall/drop-off; whale shark encounters in the wider area are snorkel-only by regulation when sharks are present
Safety notes
Deep wall/drop-off with essentially unlimited depth if not monitored, occasional current at exposed points, remote north-side location increases boat-transit time back to town in an emergency; strict no-touch/no-scuba-with-whale-sharks rule enforced in the refuge
Permits & fees
Site lies within the legally protected Turtle Harbour-Rock Harbour Wildlife Refuge, part of the Bay Islands National Marine Park system co-managed with BICA (Bay Islands Conservation Association); no separate per-dive entry fee is documented for this specific site, but standard Bay Islands marine-park conservation contributions apply through local dive operators
Permits and operators change - confirm before booking.
