toxic hydrogen sulfide gas layer (rotten-egg smell) - avoid lingering/irregular breathing near layer and free-flow regulators at that depth; significant depth/narcosis risk; overhead hazard from submerged tree canopy/branches; strict buoyancy control needed to avoid stirring sediment

Permits & fees

cenote fee approx. 300 MXN (~US$15) for divers, approx. 100 MXN (~US$5) for swimmers/snorkelers; camera fee approx. 500 MXN (~US$25); hours ~8am-5pm
