Best time to surf
Peak ~Sep-Dec (best NE groundswells late Sep-Nov); overlaps typhoon season; Apr-Aug smallest/mellowest
Shoulder season: Aug-Sep (SW monsoon; smaller cleaner, good for intermediates) and May-Jun (small, beginner-friendly, uncrowded); Big Wish itself fickle off-peak

Wave direction: Both - Big Wish is a long left reef; the Bamboo break is a right; inside beach break varies

Ideal swell: NE (takes N/NE angled swell better than most Siargao spots); best 2-10ft (small = fun head-high; peak = double/triple overhead)
Ideal wind: SW (SW monsoon is offshore here); calm / light SW-W-NW preferred
Working tide: Mid to high (low tide exposes reef/rocks - hazard)

Options for a mixed group: Advanced group on Big Wish; beginners/intermediates on the inside beach or the mellower Bamboo right ~500m along; true never-evers better served at General Luna (Jacking Horse / Quicksilver) ~1hr south

Access & parking: Barangay Pacifico, San Isidro; ~1hr / ~35km from General Luna, ~45-60 min from Del Carmen via the Circumferential Road; motorbike/scooter or van; small entrance fee; no ATM - bring cash
Surf schools & rental: BigWish Surf School (SISA-licensed, WSL QS instructors; lessons/rental/guiding) - primary Pacifico operator; also Pacifico Surf School and Pacifico Surf Bayay; Bamboo Surf Beach Resort fronts the Bamboo break
Water temp & wetsuit: ~29-30 C; boardshorts / bikini; rash vest for sun/reef, full-sleeve in jellyfish months
