Not a snorkel site - Limited/possible only near the shallow entry areas; the collapsed-cavern gallery network is better suited to guided scuba diving than snorkeling

Safety notes

Overhead/cavern environment requires buoyancy control and care to avoid silt-out; site is outside the Reserve Naturelle Marine (which ends at Etang-Sale to the north), so Saint-Pierre falls under general (non-reserve) maritime rules; diving is exempt from the department's shark-related swim/surf ban regardless

No marine reserve permit required (Saint-Pierre lies outside the Reserve Naturelle Marine de La Reunion, whose southern limit is Etang-Sale); standard French diving certification rules apply
