Snorkel-friendly - Yes - popular snorkel spot reached by boat or kayak from Malendure; shallow coral formations, turtles and reef fish visible; southern part near Petit Ilet has a steeper drop-off with occasional moderate current

Safety notes

Very high boat/kayak/snorkeler traffic concentrated in a small area; strict no-touch/no-collect rules to protect fragile coral; anchoring is prohibited reserve-wide (mooring buoys only); no fishing permitted in the reserve

Permits & fees

No individual permit needed for guided diving or snorkeling; site sits inside the Reserve Cousteau (Jacques Cousteau Underwater Reserve, ~1000 ha protected marine area) regulated by prefectoral decree and managed with mooring buoys maintained by the Office National des Forets (ONF); anchoring, fishing and collecting are banned; commercial boat/snorkel excursions from Malendure typically cost approx EUR20-30 per person
