Es Freus lies within the Ses Salines d'Eivissa i Formentera Natural Park / Els Freus Marine Reserve (~13,617 ha total, the 2nd-largest Mediterranean marine protected area in Spain). A core 'integral reserve' zone (~4 km², marked by buoys) bans anchoring, all fishing, and scuba diving without authorization. Diving permits/authorization: Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, tel +34 971 176 100 (fishing permits: +34 971 321 087 ext. 3410 / pesca@conselldeformentera.cat). No specific per-diver park fee was found in official sources; recreational diving with authorized local operators outside the integral zone does not require an individual permit per sources reviewed.
