Options for a mixed group: HTs is expert-only; split is the reef cluster off the same anchorage - Lance's Left (intermediate) and Beng Beng (one of the easiest Mentawai waves) minutes away, so mixed groups spread across breaks from one boat.

Very shallow reef pinnacles ('Surgeon's Table' - named for the cuts); fast hollow barrels; extreme remoteness; boat traffic in the channel; high reef-cut infection risk

FIRST-CLASS CONCERN - very remote. Reef injuries common; nearest hospital at Padang (hours by boat); limited/no offshore signal; charter boats are the de-facto rescue; medevac slow and costly.

Crowd, access & conditions

Crowd & localism: Boat-crowd dependent (~10-35 surfers when charters converge); no shore localism but boat-priority etiquette

Access & parking: Remote - boat charter (liveaboard) or land-based (Hollow Trees Resort / Ombak Losmen); from Padang by fast boat/ferry (several hours) then local boat

Surf schools & rental: Not a lesson break; guiding via charter captains or HTs Resort guides; bring your own quiver

Water temp & wetsuit: ~28-29 C year-round; boardshorts, no wetsuit
